Multilingual dictation test results, September 2026

Raw material behind Best Multilingual Dictation Apps for Mac in 2026 (Tested). Every clip below was played into every app; the text is exactly what each app inserted, before any correction. Play the audio, read the outputs, and check our scoring yourself.

Setup. One MacBook Pro (Apple M5 Pro, 48GB, macOS 26.5.1), first week of September 2026. Audio generated with ElevenLabs Multilingual v2, one voice for clips 01 to 12 and an Indian English voice for clip 13. Each app on automatic language detection where offered, default cleanup, translation features off. Each clip played once per app; a clip that returned nothing was replayed once and the second result used.

Mumble Dictation 0.1.50, Wispr Flow 1.6.765, Monologue 1.5.0 (Remote mode), Typeless 2.5.0, VoiceOS 0.1.27, Willow Voice 2.3.19, Aqua Voice 0.19.8 (Avalon 1.5), Superwhisper 2.18.2 (Parakeet multilingual, then Whisper Large v3 Turbo), Monologue 1.5.0 again in Local model mode, Voibe 2.23 (English as primary language).

Scoring. A clip is handled when both halves of the sentence survive in their original language. A single misheard word, or one connective rendered in the other language, is a slip, still handled. A clip fails when a phrase or half of the sentence is dropped, translated, or returned in a script that language is not written in (Japanese in romaji or Korean characters). Transliteration a community actually uses, such as English words in Devanagari or romanized Hindi, is a style, not an error. The tables count language pairs handled out of six at each level. Cloud and on-device apps are listed separately because they run different classes of models; compare within a group. Voibe supports one primary language at a time by design; its counts reflect that. Apple Dictation was tested by hand and is not on this page.
