New0.1.48: Try Pro without signing in

Speak freely. Stay private.

Private AI dictation for Mac. Speak into any app with a text field, even offline.

How it works

Think out loud. Not out in the cloud.

You talk

Mumble, ramble, switch languages mid sentence. The pill just listens.

Voice model

Turns your speech into text, word for word.

✦ On device

Language model

Works on that text: filler out, punctuation in, your format.

✦ On device

The text

The finished words, punctuated and shaped, already sitting where your cursor was.

Why Mumble

Everyone says private. We built it that way.

Simple keys, many outcomes.
fn is only the default. If you and that key have history, appoint any other in Settings.

Hands free, the long take

For the thoughts that need a while. Double-tap fn, wander as far as you like, then tap return and it lands in one piece.

Dictation

So we need to finish the copy, ping design, and book the room for Friday. Sam is out until Thursday, so the review moves, and the deck needs one more pass before it goes out.

Your words, spelt properly

Names, jargon, the odd acronym. Spell one out for Mumble and it remembers. On Pro, it’s context aware and picks up new words on its own.

FAQ

Good questions

To be or not to be.

Yessss. Unlimited dictation, no word caps, no weekly limits, no account needed. Pro adds the clever bits: AI cleanup, Transforms, custom prompts, voice actions. There’s a 60-minute trial if you want to try Pro first.

Never, unless you open the door yourself. Everything, audio, transcript, cleanup, stays on your Mac and trains no one’s AI. The exceptions all need your hand: plugging in your own AI provider, or using an online voice action like Open, Ask, or GIF. Even then only text goes where you point it, never audio.

Even at 35,000 feet. Everything runs on your Mac with 16GB of memory or more; with less, cleanup borrows your own AI key. The online-only bits, like web search and Ask AI, will quietly wait for you to land.

That’s rather the point. On supported hardware, nothing you say touches a third-party server: no audio to store, leak, or train on. Lawyers, doctors, and anyone under NDA can dictate knowing their words never leave the machine.

Accurate enough that people forget it runs locally. The on-device model matches leading cloud dictation, and it copes with accents, long takes, technical vocabulary, and mixed languages.

Forty and counting, from English and Chinese to Hindi and Arabic. Detection is automatic, and you can switch languages mid-sentence without touching a setting.

Any app with a text field: Mail, Slack, Notion, Google Docs, browsers, Cursor, VS Code. Text lands right at your cursor, so there’s no transcription window and no copy-pasting.

Teach it once, and it spells them right for good. The Dictionary holds your names, acronyms, and product terms: manual entries on Free, and on Pro it picks up new ones as you dictate. Especially handy for prompts and commit messages in Cursor or Claude Code.

That’s what Transforms are for. The same take can come out as clean text, bullets, an email, or anything a custom prompt can describe. It all runs on your Mac if the hardware allows.

Strangers welcome. No account, no name, no questions: just download and start talking. Even the free Pro trial starts without signing in. Signing in exists only for buying or restoring a licence.

Heavens, no. Pro is a one-time purchase: $50 early bird (normally $100), with a 30-day money-back guarantee and three Macs per licence. Pro includes 12 months of updates and support, and everything you have keeps working after that.

macOS 14.2 and Apple Silicon, M1 or newer. Everything runs on-device with 16GB of memory. With less, transcription stays local and cleanup needs your own AI key.

Just mumble it

We’ll handle the rest. Typed, tidied, and none of your words leave your Mac.
